dolly's

I have never considered myself a doll person but having reflected this this morning I realise that I am, just a bit. Yes I love Barbie, yes I've made a few dolls in my time, yes I have paid a large amount of money to relive my childhood on a doll, yes I have pangs in my heart when I looks at this girl.

This is Lindy Loo. My doll from my early childhood and I love her. She nearly makes me weep looking at her dear face. Hair cut courtesy of my sister who thought it would grow back. BUT IT DIDN'T!

The above doll is my mid life crisis purchase from the local antique centre. She now sits behind glass so no one can ever break her again. Some would say a little creepy. The original was bought back from the orient as a gift from friends of the family in the late 60's early 70's but I got her a few years ago.

I purchased this little man recently. The reason I got him was because of the face. It reminded me of the face of the doll below. He is going to market to be found a new loving home or in my shop (when I eventually set it up)

I finished making her recently from the pattern off Purl Bee. Mind you she took nearly a year to finish. She turned out ok, I don't think my dollmaking skills are tip top plus it would have helped if I read the instructions first. In another fifty years she may be on sale at a market and some hoardercollector of fine second goods will take a liking to her too.
