The inside of clothes are a fascination to me. I especially like homemade clothes as there is usually alot of care that has gone into the making. I am swinging from era to era on this dress. When I first saw it I thought it was 1970's because of the material, then when I look at the style it is 1940'-50s.

Made by a woman in the 1970's whose heyday was the forties? I don't know and maybe never will.
I reckon late 70's. I can remember doing french seams for no reason except that I was an anal retentive and tried to make every garment perfectly. I think the Valentino retrospective should have had a dress displayed inside out so we could see the equistite workmanship. Fashion is not all buttons and bows
